THE CHALLENGING TEAR TROUGH

In this video, recorded during AMWC 2019 in Monaco, Dr John Martin focuses on one of the most challenging areas to inject, the tear trough. A cannula from over the cheek gives him access to the whole lower lid area where he will be injecting about 0.5mL of hyaluronic acid. Initially the cannula is inserted deep and is then gradually drawn back more superficially.

Dr Martin explains the challenges of the area and the importance of choosing the right cannula according to the firmness of the ligament presented by the patient. He also stretches the patient’s skin to reduce the chance of casting a blueish shadow on her tear trough.
